Next Up: "Stupid Girl" - Cold

Hello, and welcome to my little space in the world of deviantART. First things first, for those of you who get way too overly offended, the title of this entry came from a song. Now, on to better business. I'm going to break my previous goal (with my other account) to not write any FAQ-like entries since that seems to be an easier way for potential friends to find information. I thought this would be easy, at first, then I quickly realized that it isn't that easy to figure out what people might want to know. So, what did I do? I phoned a friend. Actually, she's just an aquaintance so far; and she doesn't even have a phone, I noted her. Right, so there goes my Who Wants to be a Millionaire reference. Oh, well. I don't really like that show anyways.

Where was I? Oh, that's right. The peculiarly awesome Fionnagh (known as =blackwidow-vash) and I had been carrying on idle conversation via note for a short while. I met her through a comment she'd left on my front page. Taking the course of idle chit-chat, I brought up the fact that I regretted having made a semi-childish and overly-hyphenated nickname (~lone-silver-wolf). Her reply was to get a new nickname, or I'd never get over the fact that I don't care for the other anymore. I heeded her advice, created this account, then realized I had no clue what to say about myself. She, again, came in handy with providing me with some questions to answer. In the words of Fionnagh, "Don't think of it as a FAQ, nobody's asked you these questions frequently. Just call it an interview or something. You're famous, now! :giggle:" And, minus the famous part, she's got a good point. So, here goes nothing...

Click here to read the questions and answers. Journal was shortened like this to save space on my frontpage.

Thanks. :D Well, I made it through alright. We were without power and phone lines for about two weeks, though. Other than that, just a little damage to the roof, basically some lost shingles (we so need a different type of roof) and a hole over the spare bedroom. Of course, there were some outside damages as well, our carport ended up in our driveway, for example, and our satellite bit the dust, breaking the cable leading to my receiver so I'm watching DVDs if anything for a while. The carpeting suffered some moisture damage, since we had the option of open all windows or lose the home, but no mildew has been found yet. Our fireplace, however, is as good as gone. :disbelief: It was scary being inside when it was hitting. I was in front of one of the windows, towel-drying some of the rain water, and decided to just sit in front of it. One of the larger gusts of wind and rain was so hard I actually got knocked a little bit backwards. I'm surprised we made it, to be honest.

And you're right, it was pretty good...compared to what happened to some of the homes near to us. Our neighbors' home fell victim to a funnel cloud/twister, which is also what took the carport. But nobody was in that home when it went, luckily. (Yeah, we had some twisters, but nobody was hurt.) We lost nearly all of our trees in the area, some of which severely damaged homes. And I saw several items from another neighbor's yard (items that were loosely on the ground, they didn't think to pick up their yard) get blown roughly 15 acres and nearly crash into people's homes. :o

But yeah, like I said, we (my family) came out very lucky for this one. And the only reason we have phone service right now is because we have underground lines and all that had to be put up was one overhead that led to our box. I always have wanted DSL, but seeing how the trees fell and where the proposed DSL box would have went in our neighborhood, I'd still be without Internet if I didn't use dial-up. Strange...

And sure, I'll feel free to note. :) Good hearing from you again.
